Mine Started with Sparky.
JetSetSitter exists because of Sparky. He changed the way I thought about travel, trust, and what exceptional pet care should look like—and ultimately inspired the business I always wished existed for him.
Sparky wasn’t just our family pet, he was a member of our family and he was part of every decision we made, including where we traveled and how long we stayed away.
I loved him like most people love a child.
I knew exactly how he liked his walks, where he preferred to nap, his favorite walking paths, and how much comfort he found in simply being home.
Leaving him was never easy. Not because I thought something bad would happen. But because I couldn't imagine anyone caring for him the way I did.
Boarding never felt right. He would spend much of his day in a kennel or around unfamiliar dogs he didn't always enjoy.
Traditional pet sitting wasn't the answer either. Someone would stop by for a quick visit, feed him, take him outside, and then leave again.
He deserved more than that. He deserved companionship. Patience. Someone who noticed the little things and gave him his own staycation while we were away and who loved being with him, not just checking him off a schedule.
As he got older, those feelings only grew stronger. His medications became more important. His routine mattered more. He moved a little slower. He needed extra patience.
More than anything, I never wanted him to feel abandoned while I was away Every single time I left, I'd tell him, "I'll be back for you." And I always was.
I was incredibly fortunate to have a neighbor who became a great friend.
She cared for Sparky exactly the way I hoped someone would. Some days he'd wander over to her house because he wanted company.
Other days he preferred sleeping in his own bed, in his own home. His routine stayed the same. He ate where he always ate. He slept where he always slept. He felt safe and most importantly he felt loved.
That experience changed everything.
It showed me what exceptional care could actually look like.
And it made me realize that every dog deserves that same comfort while the people who love them are away.
That's why I created JetSetSitter.
MEET THE FOUNDER
Meet Deanna
I'm lucky enough to combine two things I genuinely love—travel and dogs. I live in San Diego, California, with my husband Ryan, who joins me on many of our JetSetSitter stays. We both work remotely, which gives us the flexibility to travel while providing the kind of thoughtful, live-in care we always wished existed for our own dog.
When we're not caring for our furry clients, you'll usually find us planning our next adventure, exploring a new city, searching for a great local restaurant, or making another trip to Disney.
I've also always had a deep love for animals. Growing up, there was never a time when dogs weren't part of our family. They were more than pets—they were my best friends, my comfort, and a huge part of my happiest memories.
In addition to founding JetSetSitter, I'm also a luxury travel advisor. I love helping people create unforgettable vacations, and there's something special about knowing I can help with both sides of the journey, planning the trip and making sure your pets waiting at home are just as well cared for.
To me, travel should be exciting, not stressful. Knowing your dog is safe, comfortable, and loved makes it possible to truly enjoy the time away.
